Material
Foraged clays and wood ashes

Dimensions
40cm H x 35cm D

Technique
Coiled on a kick wheel, reduction fired with gas and wood.

Note from the artist:

This form has been produced in Sardegna for many generations, used traditionally for transporting water by hand. The generous handles allow an arm to be slung underneath. After seeing antiques of this shape and character I was inspired to recreate the spirit of these brocca forms. Made on a kick wheel using the coiling methods I studied in Korea, and the surface is finished with kaolin and wood ash. The clay body is made of foraged wild clays from the Sierra Nevada mountains in California.
